About my life

more than
the code.

A lot of my life has absolutely nothing to do with a compiler. Law enforcement, marching band, nature, photography, writing, long drives, and the people I actually want to spend time around all matter just as much.

What I care about

the stuff outside the editor.

01

Law enforcement

Law enforcement is my career. I work in LE while also pursuing a career in low-level development, so a lot of my life lives somewhere between patrol work and a debugger. I am also a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), which means impaired-driving enforcement, physiology, evaluations, and the investigative side of traffic work are things I spend real time around.

02

Marching band

Marching band was a huge part of my life, and I ended up serving as drum major my senior year. I liked the performance side of it, but I also liked the responsibility that came with leading people, keeping everything moving, and helping turn months of work into something that actually looked and sounded right on the field.

03

Nature

I have a soft spot for the mountains in Northeast Georgia. The roads, overlooks, forests, weather, and just being up there are some of my favorite ways to get away from screens for a while. Give me a long drive through the North Georgia mountains and I am probably happy.

04

Photography

I like catching things the way they felt, not just the way they technically looked. Cars, landscapes, people, night scenes, weather, whatever has enough atmosphere to make me stop for a second.

05

Writing

I write because sometimes a thought makes more sense once I force it into words. Sometimes it comes out good. Sometimes it turns into writing slop worse than AI. Both happen.

06

Friends

A lot of the best parts of my life have nothing to do with a repository. I like hanging out, driving around, talking about dumb shit, and spending time with people I genuinely enjoy being around.

Where I'm headed

law enforcement now.
low-level development next.

Law enforcement is the career I am in today, and low-level development is the career I am actively working toward. I do not really try to force the two into the same box. They are just two parts of my life that I take seriously.

One gives me real-world responsibility, people, pressure, and problems that do not care whether the timing is convenient. The other is where I get to obsess over firmware, assembly, rendering, networking, memory, and all the machinery underneath software.

I like having both. One keeps me grounded in the real world. The other gives me a place to build.
